Village Pub Theatre (VPT) is a new writing theatre company based in a pub in Leith, Edinburgh. We present fresh, innovative and provocative new plays from some of Scotland’s top playwrighting talent and create sociable, energetic events for our audiences.

Village Pub Theatre is known for creating monthly evenings of short plays, presented fast, raw and script in hand in our Leith home. Our events are usually set to a theme and are usually supplemented by homebaking and a great atmosphere.

Since our formation in June 2012 we have collaborated with some of Scotland’s leading cultural organisations including National Theatre Scotland, Traverse Theatre, Royal Lyceum Theatre, Glasgay!, Coastword, Creative Carbon Scotland and LGBT History Month. We have presented plays in pubs, café’s, theatres, libraries and streamed live around the globe.

The core of Village Pub Theatre is a diverse community of playwrights whose work the company is committed to presenting and nurturing through prioritising artistic freedom and championing innovation and experimentation in play writing.

Most of our performances take place in our home, the Village Pub, 16 South Fort Street, Edinburgh, EH6 4DN
